Target Introduces ‘The Webster’ Clothing Boutique For A Limited Time Starting May 6th

Target has had more than 80 innovative collaborations to be proud of. And back in January, Target unveiled an entirely new design platform – The Shops at Target– at a media preview event in New York City. On May 6, Target will unveil their newest design collaboration concept, The Shops at Target, in partnership with specialty stores to co-create affordable, limited-edition collections in different product categories. First up, The Webster at Target, a capsule collection produced with the Collins Avenue shop’s co-founder and CEO, Laure Heriard Dubreuil. Inspired by the city’s sandy beaches and vibrant sunsets, Miami fashion is all about color, art-deco accents and luxury—three words that perfectly describe The Webster, an iconic boutique in the heart of Miami Beach, Fla.

Co-founded in 2007 by one of Yves Saint Laurent’s former top merchandisers in Paris, Laure Heriard Dubreuil, The Webster has become a world-renowned multi-brand boutique. Showcasing a carefully curated selection of men’s and women’s styles by designers such as Givenchy, Alexander Wang, Thakoon and Balenciaga, The Webster is a must-see Miami shopping spot.

Now Laure and team are lending their luxurious tastes to Target. Taking inspiration from the Miami Beach art deco district and their shop’s signature wallpaper, The Webster at Target is a chic collection of apparel and accessories for women, men, kids and babies. The collection will also feature plus-sizes too!

And if there’s any concern that The Shops at Target launch will be met with door-busting, mad-rush sell-outs rivaling the Jason Wu at Target debacle, it seems the mass retailer has learned its lesson. Jessica Carlson, Target spokesperson, assures that both stores and online inventories will be stocked appropriately to meet demand.

Below, Laure picks a few of their favorite looks from the collection and where to wear them.

The Trend That’s Here To Stay: “Animal Prints”

I’ve said this a million times before but I repeat, “Animal prints are here to stay”. Better yet more and more designers are making pieces in this print that flatter the curvy body. The great thing about animal prints is that you can add a pop of color, such as orange, red or blue, to it and it’ll pull the look together with a little twist. Over the past few days I have seen quite a few animalistic items that have caught my attention. Here are a few of my fave animal prints for the upcoming season:

‘Leopardicious’ Catsuit from Majesty’s Closet, $59.99

Leopard Playsuit from Torrid, $120.50

Trend Alert: “Scarf Print Dresses”

I’m starting to notice that scarf print dresses are becoming a popular trend . While at the mall this past weekend H&M had a huge billboard with a model in a scarf but also wearing a scarf print dress. So when I got home I started researching and found a few selections with this style option. It kinda puts me back in the 1997 Versace days or reminiscent of a mod-look.

“Misha” Multi-Printed Dress from Curvaceous Boutique, $59.99, Sizes L-3X

Scarf Dress from Dots, $19.80, Sizes 0-24

Scarf Print Dress - Length from 36in

Scarf Print Dress from Simply Be, $65, Sizes 8-28

‘Medallion’ Maxi Dress from Fashion To Figure, $48, Sizes 2X-3X

Trend Alert: “The High and Low of It”

The high-low skirt/dress trend is making it’s way back on the scene for the upcoming season. It’s described as a skirt that is higher in the front and hangs lower in the back. If you have great legs then this is an option that you definitely wanna try.  With prom season right around the corner, this is sure to be a popular choice for many young ladies.

Hi-Lo Layered Ruffle Dress from Newport News, $89, Sizes S-L

Strapless High-Low Gown by White House Black Market, $398, Sizes 00-14

The LBD, “Little Black Dress”

A LBD, (Little Black Dress), can take you to so many different occasions from work, date night to a social function. The main styles that are a must are a sheath, a maxi dress, a curve-hugging dress and a formal black dress. While recently doing my spring cleaning closet reorganization I thought about this being a great topic to blog on. Mostly because I realized that I had quite a few solid black dresses, all different styles though, and serving different purposes.  I have a black sleeveless maxi that will be a staple for the spring/summer seasons. Then there’s a black body-con dress that’s great if you’re feeling flirty and may happen to have a big date-night. I also have my NaKIMuli Dookie Dress, which I’ve only worn once, but is a showstopper if you want to capture all of the attention when entering a room. I ended up realizing that I just needed a special section in my closet solely for my LBD’s so that they’re all in easy access and in plain view when choosing which type of event that I’m attending. Try these LBD’s for your wardrobe:

Tahari Woman ‘Patty’ Dress from Nordstrom, $128, Sizes 2X-3X

‘Monroe’ Off-Shoulder Dress from Curvaceous Boutique, $69.99, Sizes L-3X

Monif C. ‘Miranda’ Draped Jersey Gown, $228, Sizes 1-3 (plus)

Dots Maxi Dress, $16.80, Sizes 0-24

Ann Taylor Boatneck Sheath Dress, $168, Sizes 00-18

Rachel Pally Long Black Caftan, $264, Sizes 1X-3X

Store Spotlight: “Dots Spring Collection”

I was privy enough to receive the new spring lookbook from Dots corporate office a week or so ago and wanted to share with you some of my faves from the new collection. If I haven’t mentioned this before, Dots is one of my fave stores to shop at. I mean I call every new shipment day, Tuesday and Friday, to see if items that I’ve seen online are in the store yet. (Yes, I’m a Dots fanatic). I love the reasonable prices and the great selection of stylish, trendy plus-size clothes. The new collection is right on target with the high-low dress trend, aztec prints, long-flowing maxi dresses, stripes colored denim and polka dots. I purchased a solid black long maxi from them last week and it has become a favorite already. (I’m wearing it today actually). I only paid $16.80 but it is made of a good quality material so you’re getting your moneys worth. I can’t wait until the animal print maxi just like the black one arrives at my local store. The shoes are a nice feature to the store as well. They go all the way up to a size 11. I really like how the clothing scale range goes from a size 0-24. So there’s a chance for ladies of every shape, height and dimension to shop, save and be fashionable!

Spring 2012 Trend: “Aztec, Zig-Zag and Tribal Prints”

I know that I’ve been bombarding my blog with posts this week but I happened to go through my rough drafts and found a few that I had forgotten to post, lol.  Since today is the official first day of spring, my next trend to feature is the ‘Tribal/Aztec’ trend.  Actually, this is no new fashion statement and has been popular for a few seasons now.  The tribal trend consists of strong, graphic prints (usually black and white graphics mixed with darker prints is a recognizable element) combined with warm, earthy tones (black, browns, deep reds and oranges) and natural accents (straw, wood).  Here are a few new items in the tribal/aztec print:
Plus Size Maxi Dress in Travel Knit image
(This dress isn’t a tribal print but would look great with the above pumps) Jessica London Maxi Dress from One Stop Plus, $69.99-$79.99, Sizes 12-28
Gold Lighting Bolt Earrings
Then add these Gold Lighting Bolt Earrings from Curvaceous Boutique to complete the above look, $24.99
Aztec Tube Dress from Dots, $19.80 (Straight Size) $21.80 (Plus Size)
Jungle Queen Maxi from City Chic, $88, Sizes XS-XXL (Plus)

New York Fashion Week, Fall 2012: “Tadashi Shoji”

Yesterday started New York Fashion Week for the Fall 2012 season. Everybody who is somebody is in New York for the next 7 days previewing all the designer collections that will be available later this year. One of the first shows yesterday was that of designer Tadashi Shoji. Tadashi’s clothing has become a favorite at red carpet affairs, especially awards shows. I really admire Tadashi Shoji because of his consideration for the curvy woman. Many full-figure starlets are seen in his gowns. Most recently SAG winner Octavia Spencer from “The Help”. I personally own a Tadashi Shoji gown that I have been waiting to bring out but I just haven’t had the occasion yet. Believe you me, it’s “Oscar” worthy too. But as far as his Fall 2012 collection goes, here are a few that stood out to me from his runway show yesterday:
