OOTD: Antthony Bling Bling Mama Caftan Dress & Jeffrey Campbell Munroe Pumps

I first wore this HSN Antthony Bling Bling Mama Caftan Dress for last years RVA Fashion Week and decided to rock it again for my recent photoshoot. Not only because this is a great lil’ dress but more-so because I was going for a pop of color in this particular scene. I removed the original tie belt and swapped it out for a pink belt that I had taken from another dress. I don’t normally go for short skirts but stepped outta my comfort zone once again with this one. I know that I always say that purple is my favorite color but turquoise seems to be moving up on my color scale too. So when I saw these colorful Jeffrey Campbell ‘Munroe’ Pumps from Nordstrom on their site last year, I quickly put in my pre-order and waited all summer for them to arrive. (These pumps are very similar to a pair of Christian Dior‘s that I posted on before). Therefore I took the colors from out of the shoe and made them connect with my jewelry and caftan dress. Ladies don’t sleep on the HSN website. They have many stylish items and go from petite sizes to plus-sizes.

OOTD: The IGIGI by Yuliya Raquel ‘Cassandra Infinity Gown’

On a recent photoshoot that I did for my 2-Year Blogiversary, I wore this beautiful gown from award winning plus-size designer, IGIGI by Yuliya Raquel. I gave a teaser in a previous post that I had received a gown from the latest “Spring With A Breath of Fresh Air Collection” to review. I wanted a classic Hollywood look with this piece. It is trendy all the while being classy. It is designed in the colorblock theme of black and ivory and can be worn several different ways including strapless, one-shoulder or with both sleeves. From the moment it arrived I felt like a red-carpet starlet. IGIGI goes the extra mile to ship your packages already on the hanger in an oversized box so that when you open your package, it’s wrinkle free and ready for wear. Once I stepped on set all eyes were on me. But then again whenever I wear IGIGI clothing, it stands out in the crowd. (Even though I wore this specifically for a photoshoot, this gown is perfect for a semi-formal affair, an evening wedding or a Broadway play or theatre show). The gown comes with an aurora beaded belt that snaps in the back for a nice secure fit. Since the belt had beading on it I wanted to wear jewelry to compliment that. My jewelry has sort of a black and gold tone to it to compliment the belt. To coincide with the colorblock theme I went for the newly released  Jessica Simpson Platform Sandals

The Curvy Look For Less: “Burberry Gabardine Biker Trench Coat vs. Simply Be”

UPDATE: It seems as if my post on this got deleted from yesterday so I’m reposting it again…….

I know, I know, it’s springtime but a trench coat can be worn year round if the weather is permitting. But I just so happened to be watching my DVR recording of this weeks “LaLa’s Full Court Life” and saw her wearing this cute trench coat. So I started researching and found out that the trench she is wearing is by Burberry and is called the “Gabardine Biker Trench Coat” ($2,795). Her Burberry double breasted belted trench coat features biker leather sleeves, reinforced shoulders, padded elbows, and zipped cuffs. So I came across a very similar style for the curvy ladies.

Trim Trench Coat from Simply Be, Was $119, Now $71, Sizes 8-28

Kaela Humphries’s First Photo Shoot for The Limited’s Plus-Size Line, “Eloquii”

Disclaimer: Full  Story Below via People Style Watch:

Kaela Humphries Model Pictures

That was fast! Just one month after landing a modeling contract with FORD Models’ FORD +, Kaela Humphries is starring in her first campaign, for The Limited’s new plus-size line, eloquii.

“It’s been really great,” Humphries tells PEOPLE. “The line is really fashion forward, the clothes fit and they look amazing. It’s been a really good experience.”

Humphries, older sis to Kris, had dabbled in modeling before last month, but only got serious about the industry recently. “I wasn’t ever like, ‘I’m going to be a model,’” she recalls. “I was a medical sales rep until last month.”

But four years ago, she was “discovered” by an agency rep in her home state of Minnesota, and “did little things here and there,” she says, before getting picked up by Wilhelmina models and ultimately appearing in spreads for Nordstrom and Kohl’s.

After a few years, Wilhelmina released her, so Humphries met with FORD + “to gauge if I had what it takes,” she explains. Obviously she did … and the rest is history.

OOTD: “Easter Sunday With Madea”

Today I attended the Tyler Perry play, “Madea Gets A Job” here in Richmond, Virginia. I had a wonderful time. Tyler never disappoints. He always combines religion, beautiful singing and comedy so in the end you walk away with a lesson learned. I wore a ruched zebra print dress that I got from Dots some time ago. It has a sheer paneling on the back so you either have to wear a strapless or in my case, I wore a one-piece body shaper. I had been waiting for the perfect time to pull this out so what better time than for Madea, lol. I had great seats, third row from the floor to be exact, but I knew there still would be a lot of walking in the Coliseum so I only wore short heels. Most times the Coliseum is a little chilly so I wore my tuxedo blazer again to keep warm since I had the sheer paneling on the back of my dress. To break-up the monochromatic coloring I threw in a pop of mustard yellow with a clutch, bracelet and earrings. I took pics before the play but afterwards went for a Sunday stroll by the river. Take a look:

Dress: $22 from Dots

Blazer: $98 from Bespoke Editors Pick Tuxedo Jacket from Simply Be

Clutch: $9 Nine West from Macy’s (Clearance)

Shoes: $26 Nine West from Ross

Earrings, Bracelet & Ring from: Simply Fashion and Ashley Stewart

Hosiery: $3.49 from Beauty Supply Store

“Mother’s Day Gift Ideas”

It’s almost that time of year again to show appreciation to the women who carried us for nine months then went through however many hours of labor to get us divas here, our Mother’s.  I know with me I spare no expense to show my Mom each year my thanks. So I have a few gift ideas  for those of you who may be clueless as to what your Mom may want. Here’s a list of my personal favorite items right now that I’m sure your Mother would love too:

1) Ever since Prada first came out with perfume some years back, I have been a fan of almost every scent. My all-time fave is the  ‘Infusion de Fleur d’Oranger’ Eau de Parfum Spray, but last year they came out with a new scent called “Candy”. I made the mistake of waiting too late to order mine and it went like hotcakes. Well I see that they have the sets back in stock now and I’m not gonna miss this deal again. I personally think it’s better to buy perfumes in sets because you get more for your money by getting both the lotion & perfume, the scent tends to last longer on your skin. Get this Mother’s Day gift set now before they’re all gone….again!

Prada ‘Candy’ Perfume Set from Nordstrom, $108

2) Next up is a candle scent that I’ve been a fan of for many years. As a Mother’s day gift some time ago my uncle gave me a Buttercream’ Scented Yankee Candle and I have been purchasing this scent ever since. I hope that  it never gets discontinued. The scent lingers throughout the house leaving a smell of a fresh baked cake. So when I recently discovered that the Buttercream scent now also comes compatible with the wall freshener units, I was ecstatic. These cans are compatible with the lysol, renuzit and airwick unit holders so no need to purchase the $30 holder from Yankee Candle. (Hey, save money where you can). The refills itself are a little more expensive than the other brands too but the long-lasting fragrance will pay for itself. To me there’s nothing better than walking into a room that’s smelling of a pleasant aroma!

Yankee Candle ‘Buttercream’ Air Freshner Refill from Staples, $6.49, 6.6oz.

3) Moms should be fashionable as well as comfortable and with a classic ballet flat such as these, Mom gets the best of both worlds. I wear my ballet flats almost everyday to work. They can be dressed up or down. The Tory Burch ‘Reva’ Ballet flat was an instant classic when it debuted  in 2005. Named after the designer Tory’s own Mother, these ballet flats are easy to travel with and worth the investment in the long run. Many other color options are available on the Tory Burch website.

Classic ‘Reva’ Ballet Flat by Tory Burch, $195, Sizes 5-11

4) Want to give your Mom something “sweet” for Mother’s Day? This fruit basket from Edible Arrangements is the tastiest choice.  I received one once before and the fruit is so fresh and juicy and will have the room smelling so sweet. Edible Arrangements makes fruit basket arrangements in the beautiful shape of flowers. They have so many choices for every occasion and will deliver worldwide. If you happen to live in another state from your mother, this will be the perfect gift to have delivered to Mom’s door!

Today I’m re-creating actress Jada Pinkett-Smith’s look from last weekends ‘Kids’ Choice Awards’. She wore a hot-pink harem styled jumpsuit by Catherine Malandrino, aztec sandals and a denim jacket to top it all off. Here is the look re-created for the curvy ladies:

The Trend That’s Here To Stay: “Animal Prints”

I’ve said this a million times before but I repeat, “Animal prints are here to stay”. Better yet more and more designers are making pieces in this print that flatter the curvy body. The great thing about animal prints is that you can add a pop of color, such as orange, red or blue, to it and it’ll pull the look together with a little twist. Over the past few days I have seen quite a few animalistic items that have caught my attention. Here are a few of my fave animal prints for the upcoming season:
