B.B. Homemaker Recipe: “The Bella Styles Famous Pot Roast”

I know it’s been forever since I posted one of my recipes but what better time than now. It’s Christmas day and I’m doing my famous pot roast. Whenever I do this dish I get rave reviews. I’ve heard quite a few people say that they can’t cook or come to me for recipes, but I’m here to tell you that anyone can do this easy meal.  Tip number one, invest in a crock pot, and your food will practically cook itself. I’m a neat freak so tip number two is to buy slow cooker liners for easy cleanup. Ok, let’s get started on this easy and delicious meal.

What you need:

- Bottom Round Roast

- 2 Onions

- One bag of Baby Peeled Carrots (or canned carrots)

- Baby Red or White Potatoes (or canned potatoes)

-Spices (to your preference)

First, a few of my favorite seasonings are Lawry’s, Sylvia’s and Mrs. Dash. These are my key spices

Now, line the slow cooker with the plastic liner and after thoroughly washing off your meat and veggies, add them to the pot. While all the food is in the pot season it with pepper, salt, soul food seasoning, meat tenderizer, the seasonings from above, 3 beef bouillon cubes and then top it off with beef broth to make the roast moist and tender. Turn the meat over and over as you season it. Once done with that, poke holes in the meat with a knife to ensure that the flavors and heat will go all the way thru. (Turn the meat over once after about the 4th hour of cooking). Now you’re all done. Just put the top on the crock pot and sit back and relax and let the roast cook itself, on high, for  around 7 hours and voila:

Christmas Dinner is Served!!!

B.B. Homemaker Recipe: “B-Styles Lasagna”

I decided to share my recipe today on Lasagna because for the longest time I couldn’t figure out how to perfect this dish. But thanks to me discovering the Barilla “No Boil Lasagne” this has become one of my signature dishes. I hear alot of young ladies say that they can’t cook. That’s ok, I’m here to not only share fashion advice but a little of all of my talents. My plan is to turn some non-cookers into chefs before long, lol. Watch how easy this is to do:

What you need:

1 box of Barilla No-Boil Lasagne

2 26oz. jars of Marinara Sauce

2 eggs

1 foil pan

1 lb of ground turkey

1 10oz. bag of frozen onions & green peppers

16oz of mozarella cheese ( I personally use a bag mixture of mozarella, parmesan & provolone)

15oz container of low-fat ricotta

parsley, basil, pepper, lawrys, thyme or whatever other seasonings suit your taste buds

Directions:

-pre-heat oven to 375 degrees and turn on a skillet on stove to high

-wash off ground turkey (or ground beef) in a colinder

-pour bag of frozen onions/peppers over meat in colinder then wash again all together

-cook ground turkey in pan w/ onions & peppers until it is browned (add your seasonings, pepper, lawrys, etc.,  as it cooks) then drain in colinder

-Mix ricotta, 2 cups of mozzarella & parmesan and eggs in a bowl

-Spread 1 cup of sauce on bottom of foil pan, layer 4 uncooked lasagna sheets, 1/3 of ricotta mix, half of meat mixture, 1 cup of mozarella & 1 cup of sauce

-Layer 4 more uncooked sheets, 1/3 of ricotta and 1.5 cups of sauce

-Layer 4 uncooked sheets, the remaining ricotta mixture & meat and 1 cup of sauce

-Layer 4 lasagna sheets, the remaining sauce and remaining mozarella

-Cover with aluminum foil and cook on 375degrees for an hour

And dinner’s served:

(Suggestion: add a salad & breadsticks to complete this course!)

B.B. Homemaker Recipe: “Budweiser BBQ Chicken”

Many of you already know this, and some don’t, but in addition to fashion I enjoy cooking. Very often cooking & cleaning are my relaxation time . So with that being said, I’ve decided to start blogging on my favorite recipes from time to time. Of course I got the name “B.B. Homemaker” from watching Beyonce’s video where she’s being domesticated. That’s me everyday so why not use the name, lol. Today I’m going to feature this new BBQ sauce I came across by “Budweiser”. Yes the beer company has tapped into the food market. Now as I’ve stated before, I don’t drink, except for that one glass I had last night, but I wanted to try this just for the experiment. One thing I will state up front is that all my seasonings DO NOT have to be a name brand so if you follow this recipe it’s up to you which brand you choose to use. I just try to make sure that I buy low-sodium or fat free products. (I’m not perfect, and yes I do cheat from time to time with my meals, but I DO TRY to cook healthy to a certain degree most of the time). But I will mention that my favorite seasonings are Lawry’s, Accent & Mrs. Dash. Ok, so here’s the step by step directions of how to create this dish:

What you need:

-Chicken breast, quarters or what ever pieces you like

-A bag of frozen onions & peppers combined

-2 bottles of BBQ sauce,  some Karo Syrup & Hot Sauce

-Lite Salt & Pepper

-Low-Sodium Lawry’s, Accent, Mrs. Dash, Meat Tenderizer, Soul Food Seasoning & Sylvia’s Chicken Seasoning

Directions:

-#1, this is very important, YOU MUST thoroughly wash the chicken first, remove all your hand jewelry & use latex/vinyl gloves when cooking. (Even if it is just for you & your family, cleanliness is key)

-Pre-heat oven to 450 degrees

-I prefer foil pans, (for easy cleanup), so I then place clean chicken evenly in pan

-I use a bag of frozen onions & peppers, rinsed off, and put allover the chicken

-I then add my seasonings from above (I use a little of each, no particular measurement, just use your best judgement)

-Next I pour one bottle of BBQ sauce over chicken, then roll chicken around in it and then add the other bottle of BBQ sauce

-Lastly I pour a little Karo Syrup & Hot Sauce on top of the chicken and put sum water in the bottom of the pan

-Now you’re all ready to place food in oven, just cover with aluminum foil and place on a cookie sheet in center of oven

-Cook for 2.5hrs and Voila!!!

O.K. now that I look at my plate, today was one of my cheat days but it tasted so very good, lol

Introducing Kid Chef “Darian Davis”

I’m sitting here watching last Friday’s Wendy Williams show on my DVR and I am absolutely smitten with this kid chef. His name is Darian Davis of Dallas, TX and he’s only 12-years old. He is the son of plus-size model, Lisa Scott. Darian’s passion for cooking started as a dare from his mom. Out of his mom’s frustration with getting his four year old brother to eat fruits and vegetables, his mom challenged him to create a meal that his brother would eat that included fruits and or vegetables.  That’s where all the magic happened. He creates healthy meals, that are all kid friendly, and tests them out on his four-year old brother.  His meals are prepared on either a George Foreman grill or quesadilla maker so no oven is needed. He also has a recipe book coming out soon. Darian’s future plans are to go to culinary school, to play basketball and to be an entertainment lawyer. I wish him all the best and will be keeping an eye out for his future projects!

Here’s the clip of him on The Wendy Williams Show:

BABY BANANA PUDDING
There is nothing better than a homemade meal. I tasted my baby brother Dash’s baby food and it tasted better than pudding. So, I came up with baby banana pudding made with banana baby food (trust me its  great) and arrow root animal cookies. I use arrow root animal cookies because of no presevatives or food coloring, and are absolutely delicious. You will need 10 large jars of banana baby food and 1 box of arrow root animal cookies, this can be found in the baby aisle of any grocery store. Add approximately 3 large sliced bananas and start layering that baby!
