MAC To Launch a “Wonder Woman” Spring 2011 Make-Up Collection

Back in September MAC launched their Disney “Venomous Villains” collection and I bought a few items from the line and loved them. (Here’s my post on that topic: “MAC Cosmetics & Disney Present: “The Venomous Villains Collection”).Well WWD reports that MAC Cosmetics is now partnering with DC Comics for a limited edition Wonder Woman cosmetics collection. The collection will launch in spring 2011 with prices ranging from $13 to $49.50 and will feature lipsticks, eyeshadows, blush and nailpolish. (I know this is great news to Wendy Williams since Wonder Woman is her idol). I’m sure this is set to be another winner from MAC cosmetics!

My Holiday Make-Up Trends: “Visions of Sugarplums”

As the holidays are right around the corner, the ole Christmas carol “The Night Before Christmas” pops into my head. My favorite line isThe children were nestled all snug in their beds, While visions of “sugar-plums” danced in their heads”. That saying holds true when it comes to my favorite makeup color for the winter season, “plum”. I must admit, I normally am seen in a natural gloss all the time but when winter comes around, I like to go a little deeper with my makeup colors. So today I wanted to share with you some of my favorite and new plum makeup trends for this season:

First off is Tom Ford’s “Black Orchid”. For Fall/Winter 2010, Tom Ford, popular American fashion designer brings “Tom Ford Black Orchid Limited Edition Collection” for smart and savvy fashionistas. This collection is actually inspired by his fragrance of same name i.e. Black Orchid. This slick and stylish set is really a great treat for all Tom Ford fans. Tom Ford Black Orchid Collection features Private Blend Lip Color in Black Orchid, Pressed Eau de Perfume Black Orchid and Nail Color in Black Orchid all for $140.

Now these three lipsticks by Chanel came out last year and I went crazy until I could get my hands on all three. These are from the Chanel “Obsecure” collection. At that time they were only available at Saks Fifth Avenue.  The shades are named Maniac (deep black red), Hysteria (eggplant black), and Obscure (brown black) and they retail for $30 each.

My nail polish of choice this time of year is MAC “Vintage Vamp” and it retails for $13. It’s a much cheaper version of Chanel’s Vamp from a few years back.

This black lipgloss called “Pur Black” came out by Yves Saint Laurent a couple of years ago and I still love it. Although it’s not a shade of plum, you can wear it over a bright pink lipstick and the color comes out gorgeous. It retails for $28 per tube. (Sidenote: I may just try this over my new “Nicky Minaj Pink 4 Friday” lipstick ($14.50) that I ordered today)

Dolce & Gabbana’s Classic Cream Lipstick in Amethyst $30

Lastly, my lip gloss and eyeshadow of choice right now are from the MAC Disney “Venomous Villains” collection. It’s the “Wrong Spell” lipgloss ($15.50) and “My Dark Magic” eyeshadow ($21). Both are beautiful shades of (purplish) plum.

The New Chanel “Côte D’Azur Collection”

I’m a sucker for exotic and odd nail polishes and makeup. So I was excited to just come across the new Chanel collection entitled, “CÔTE D’AZUR”. The pale blue polish is a knock-out. Now while I have mentioned before that Chanel polishes are a little too matte for me, I somehow still wanna give this one a try. I saw Wendy Williams with a similar color on her nails the other day and it was really beautiful.  Debuting at the CHANEL Cruise Collection 2010 – 2011 fashion show in Saint Tropez on May 11th, Peter Philips, Global Creative Director of CHANEL Makeup, was inspired by the location to create a playful collection that flirts with the sun. “Effortless, natural beauty, relaxed girls who are enjoying their holidays. That was the main idea behind the look for this show. And we added a touch of playfulness by applying a pastel baby blue nail polish”, says Peter Philips.

Chanel Le Vernis Nail Polish in Riva, $27, available at Chanel; Chanel Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Colour, $30 each, available at Chanel.

Nicki Minaj & MAC Team Up for the “Pink Friday” Lipstick Debut

Not only did I go out and buy the new Nicki Minaj CD today, but I just found out over on Twitter that she is collaborating with MAC to produce her very own lipstick entitled “Pink Friday” which is the same name as her new album. Nicki was in the Times Square MAC store earlier today to promote the new lipstick.  I was just looking thru her CD pics and admired  her pink lipstick and evidently this is what she is wearing. At $14.50 I will give it a try but I may have to tone it down with a lipglass or something being as though it is a really bright pink for everyday wear. Pink Friday is described as a “bright creamy pink lipstick,” and it has a satin finish (which means it has a creamy, semi-matte finish–no shimmer). The new lipstick will be available on Black Friday (November 26th) and will be available for the next four Fridays only (while supplies last). But I just love Nicki Minaj’s style anyway, as she has grown on me lately, so I’m more than willing to give this new lipstick a try.

Deal of the Day: “Nordstrom’s Buy Two Mascaras, Get One Free”

Whenever Nordstrom has this offer I rack up on my favorite mascara, the Christian Dior “Diorshow” brand. This is the only mascara that I’ve worn for the past few years since being introduced to it. If I don’t have false lashes on this mascara does the trick for me. I really like the Dior Azur blue shade. It gives my lashes a sudden pop and is an eye catcher too. You get full, lush lashes instantly. But that’s just my personal favorite brand. It runs around $24 each so I definitely wanna take advantage of this offer to save some money in the long run. This special offer that Nordstrom is having is for several brand mascaras such as  Chanel, Dior, YSL, MAC, Bobbi Brown, Lancome, Clinique and Trish McEvoy  and it’s only for one day, today, November 6th. Plus when you spend at least $50 or more, which shouldn’t be hard to do, you’ll get shipping for only $5. (Use promotion code “BEAUTY” for the shipping discount)

“The Back to MAC Program”

what-does-mac-cosmetics-stand-for

Ok so I know many of my makeup junkies already know this but for those who don’t I must share. MAC makeup has a program called “Back to MAC” where after you have used up 6 products , you can return the empty containers to any MAC counter and get a free lipstick. The only exception they have is on Viva Glam products. 100% of the retail selling price of the Viva Glam products go to organizations that help people living with HIV/AIDS so it is excluded from the program. Although, you can turn in Viva Glam products for the program. MAC cares about the environment and takes back it’s primary packaging to recycle the plastic and materials to re-use for new packaging. In exchange, you get a freebie. If you return your 6 products to an actual MAC store you can get either a free lipstick, lipglass OR eyeshadow. I have been wearing MAC cosmetics since the early 90′s and this program has hooked me up so much and I just had to share the info with you all too.

MAC Disney Villains “Mean & Green” Nail Polish (Review)

Like most MAC fanatics I waited patiently since earlier this year for the new “Disney Villains” collection which premiered last week. It is a line of make-up all solely based off of the evil characters from some of your favorite Disney movies. I had blogged on it when I first heard of the line coming out and I was on Nordstrom’s website all day last Wednesday when it debuted, a day early in fact. I got my shipment on Monday and today decided to try out the new nail polish while getting my nails done.  I purchased from the “Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty” collection. As I look at the MAC website and Nordstrom’s website, they are already sold out online but you may have luck in store purchasing from this collection.

Today I’m gonna give you my review on the “Mean & Green” nail lacquer ($11). In the bottle it appears pinkish with green undertones but once the nail tech applied it, it’s a really sheeny green. Now I just got a full-set of nails a few weeks ago and I have the white tips on and that made the color even harder to see so she had to do 3 coats of this polish for the full effect. (I usually keep my nails short but I left them long for the “Villain” effect, #EVL).

As I got outside in the sun, the polish appeared purple-ish. I absolutely love it. It’s as if I have 3D nails. When I came back in the house they appeared bronze-ish. So overall, I have gone from 3-4 different nail colors in the last hour. I Love it!!!!

I ordered much more from the Villains collection so more reviews to come soon!!!

The Dolce & Gabbana “Fall Look 2010″ Beauty Collection

I’m still flipping thru all the new mags for fall and the one beauty collection that caught my eye was the Dolce & Gabbana “Fall Look 2010″ line. As I’ve mentioned before the Dolce & Gabbana nail polish is my favorite. I got hooked on it last summer while shopping in Saks 5th Avenue in New York. It is really worth the $20 because the shine is long lasting. So I’m sure the lipsticks and other products are just as good.

What is eye catching out about the ad is how captivating Scarlett Johansson looks in that deep purple lipstick called “Amethyst”. On her nails is the color “Dahlia”. I myself always go a little deeper in the fall seasons with my makeup so seeing this ad was perfect inspiration.

“We wanted to discover a look that truly reflects our ‘story’ from the very beginning- yet truly reflects our reverence for today’s women, epitomized, of course by the divine Scarlett,” says Dolce & Gabbana designer Stefano Gabbana.

“We went all out with contrast, the kind of contrast that makes a real statement,” says Dolce & Gabbana collaborator Pat McGrath, “It’s really all about the lips-very shiny and dark, super sexy. I downplayed the eyes, which are still gorgeous, but it’s a subtle kind of power, very implicit. I was going for a look that is very much about ‘now’ but is also ultra Dolce & Gabbana, capturing their ultimate signature look for beauty. Very suggestive, mysterious- yet still very bold. To me, that’s what the fall is all about.”

Balancing classic glamour with a vampy edge inspired by the runway, Scarlett’s sultry look will hit select Saks Fifth Avenue locations and saksfifthavenue.com at the end of August, with prices ranging from $20 to $59.

MAC Cosmetics & Disney Present: “The Venomous Villains Collection”

After years of being just a mere rumor, WWD has confirmed that MAC and Disney will collaborate and launch Venomous Villains.  It will launch in September globally at all MAC locations.

From WWD:
MAC Cosmetics is teaming up with Disney to create a limited edition color collection, intended to launch globally in late September in all MAC locations. The products will feature four Disney characters, on which the brand is keeping mum at the moment — although with a collection name of Venomous Villains, it is assumed that we’re not talking Donald Duck and Minnie Mouse here. Lipstick, powder, lip gloss and blush shades will be sold, ranging in price from $12 to $29.50.

The collection is supposed to feature four fabulous Disney Villians!
