The Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2011 Fashion Show featuring Plus-Size Models (Paris Fashion Week)
Well, well, well, look what us curvy gals have started here. Thanks to events like Gwen DeVoe’s “Full Figured Fashion Week” and the “One Stop Plus” fashion show during “New York Fashion Week”, more and more designers are starting to “respect” a woman with curves. Many mainstream designers just announced recently about the inclusion of plus-sizes in their upcoming collections and today designer Jean Paul Gaultier featured several “plus-size” models on his runway for his Spring 2011 show in Paris. Singer/designer Beth Ditto opened and closed the show and fellow curvy models Crystal Renn and Marquita Pring graced the runway several times each. Once with Renn modeling a sheer shirt with no brazier on. But honestly this wasn’t something new for Gaultier. In 2006 he included size 24 model Velvet in his show and just last year he also featured Crystal Renn is his collection. He has shown respect to the ladies with “curves” for awhile now. Gotta love some Gaultier.

Great Blog! Thanks for including me. And I am a size 28, he def brought in the big curves when he included me! I also lucked out and modeled previous to that for John Galliano, he wa sthe first to place me on the runway in fact.
I love them both, they are amazing people.
All the very best,
Velvet d’Amour
I can’t say I care for the black see-through outfit, but it is rather… creative.
I love the tall red boots, they’re so hot!
And let’s not forget that he caused conmotion when the Size 24 model Velvet closed his 2006 fashion show 😉
