FFFWeek™ Fashion Front Spotlight: “Plus Commercial Print Model of the Year, Fluvia Lacerda”
Full figured fashion has made significant strides over the past few years. Last year, while mainstream fashion argued over our legitimacy in the industry, for the first time ever, Full Figured Fashion Week™ celebrated those who have made contributions to the plus size fashion industry.
This year one of the honorees being given the privilege of receiving an award is plus-size model Fluvia Lacerda. Fluvia is the “2011 Plus Commercial Print Model of the Year”. Fluvia can be seen in Monif C. campaigns, magazines and in ads for curvy companies such as City Chic, Eliza Parker, Igigi and many more. More notably recently as being the first plus-size model featured in Brazilian Playboy. ( Now that’s breaking mainstream barriers).
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Fluvia Lacerda moved to New York City about 14 years ago to study languages. While working as a nanny, one day in a crosstown bus, Fluvia was approached by a magazine editor who told her she should consider working as a plus size model. From that day on her life changed completely.
Today Fluvia’s face and curves are one of the most sucessful and requested worldwide. Known as the “plus size version of Gisele Bundchen” Fluvia is the only brazilian working internationally as a plus size model, making her an icon in her homeland, Brazil.
She was featured as the cover of the 2007 calendar Curves and has worked for many known brands like Torrid, Monif C., Igigi, Fashion Bug, Kmart, Bilka, Takko Fashions, Eliza Parker and magazines such as Glamour, Latina, Bust and Plus Model Magazine and most recently Playboy Brasil. As well as many different countries like South Africa, London, Mexico, Germany, Spain and Canada.
Be sure to catch Fluvia in New York City during Full Figured Fashion Week™ this June accepting her award for “Plus Commercial Print Model of the Year”. More info on the event here: http://fffweek.com
