“The Color Purple Musical Is Now On a Nationwide Tour”

I missed my opportunity to see the raved about stage play “The Color Purple” on Broadway and now it’s on a nationwide road tour. I’m so glad one of the stops will be my hometown of Richmond, Virginia. A few years ago Oprah brought back the famous movie “The Color Purple” to the stage on Broadway in New York. The Color Purple is a Broadway musical based upon the novel The Color Purple by Alice Walker. It features music and lyrics written by Brenda Russell,Allee Willis and Stephen Bray, with a book by Marsha Norman. It ran on Broadway in 2005 and has been touring throughout the US. The Broadway production earned eleven 2006 Tony Awards nominations. Hopefully those of us who didn’t get a chance to catch it then will see it now!
