“The B-Styles Curvy Girl of the Day”: Kate Eckman
The first “Curvy Girl of the Day” for 2012 goes to plus-size model, Kate Eckman. I met Kate via an email last year sometime and her resume was very impressive. I even got the chance to firsthand witness her grace the runway during last year’s “Full Figured Fashion Week” in NYC. More recently though we were set to collaborate on my CBS interview together but due to Kate’s hectic schedule, she was unavailable to model for my segment. That just shows you right there how in demand she is and is destined for greatness in this field. Kate is currently signed with Click Model Management and can be seen in this months “O” (Oprah Winfrey) magazine.
After four years of red carpet reporting in Hollywood, Kate went to graduate school and received her master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. She spent five years working as a TV news anchor and reporter, primarily for NBC News affiliates. She covered the courts in Chicago, was a White House correspondent in Washington, D.C., and specialized in reporting on wildlife and the environment in South Florida.
Grateful for her reporting experience, but ready for a new challenge and adventure, Kate moved to New York City and reinvented herself as a plus-size model—another lifelong goal. She has recently modeled for Bloomingdales, Macy’s, Lord & Taylor, Sears, Tommy Hilfiger, Eileen Fisher, Jones New York, Coldwater Creek, Lane Bryant, Faviana, Laundry by Shelli Segal and Oprah Magazine among many others. Kate is thrilled there is a place for her body type in the fashion world now, and hopes to inspire young girls and women to be fit and healthy and love, accept and honor their bodies at any size.
