Spring 2012 Trend: “Pretty in Peplum”

Adding to the list of the many new trends that are popping up all over the place this season is the style of “peplum”.  I have been checking out this new staple in the fashion world for some time now but it has now finally grown on me. Peplum comes from the 1940’s era and it is comprised of a short ruffle or overskirt of material attached to the waistline or hem of a garment. (The likes of Vera Wang, Jason Wu, and Lela Rose all showcased the bold, yet feminine, looks on their Spring 2012 runways). I’ve chosen a few styles below that are sure to flatter a curvy body:
