The B-Styles Curvy Girl of the Day: “Lindsey Brown”
You may recognize my “Curvy Girl of the Day” from being one of my models for my CBS Interview back in December. She is Lindsey Brown and I have a feeling hers will be a name to remember very soon. Not only has she just won the Sorella Swimwear model search, Lindsey’s modeling career includes working with clients such as Essence Magazine, the Today Show, Marie Claire, Roca Wear and Ashley Stewart to name a few.
Lindsey Brown, 22, is putting a little bit of Swindon style on the catwalk. Born at the old Princess Margaret Hospital in the UK, she spent her early childhood in Freshbrook, when her father was based at RAF Fairford with the US Airforce. With a German mother and an American father and after spending her early years in Swindon, Lindsey is a stylish mesh of her backgrounds.
An embodiment of eclectic, Lindsey feels that her personal style can’t be defined. “My mum is a flight attendant, so wherever she goes I ask her to bring something from the country she is flying to.” Far away from the world she keeps safe in her memories, Lindsey now lives in Virginia. She studied marketing and fashion merchandising and graduated from Old Dominion with a Bachelors in Business Admin. Lindsey models in New York and Washington, DC.
Commenting on the cat walk size controversy, Lindsey says the fashion industry is slowly catching on that few real people are stick thin and needs to appeal to the real world. “In the US I feel there is a big focus on ‘beauty.’ But they are just catching on that not everyone is a size 2 and that all sizes should be celebrated.
“I’m considered a plus-sized or full-sized model here, so while work is coming in, it’s not quite in the same volume as a smaller person would experience.”
Lindsey’s dreams of modeling in California have come true thanks to the Sorella contest and she hopes to one day also be modeling in Europe as well!
