Denim Company Lucky Brand Will Launch Plus-Size Jeans and Clothing This Fall
via Style Bistro…….
I was on Twitter earlier today and came across a question that Skorch Magazine posed to their followers asking, “If we could choose a straight-size store to carry plus-sizes which store would we choose?”. My choices, just to name a few, were Cache, Arden B. and Express. Well it seems that more straight-size companies are catching on to the plus-size fashion world. According to a story in today’s WWD, the LA-based company will launch Lucky Plus tops (up to size 3X) and Ginger jeans (up to size 24). The new additions to the Lucky Brand family will be priced from $49 to $129. Lucky Brand jeans and apparel were previously only available in up to size 18—and only online.
“We are particularly excited for the launch of this collection as we recognized a void in the plus-size marketplace for an accessible, premium denim,” said CEO Dave DeMattei in a statement. “Our goal is to be inclusive of all body types when creating clothing.”
The Ginger jeans are stretch and mid-rise and will be available in three fits: skinny, straight, and boot, according to the trade paper. Colors will run the gamut from pale blue to black—and the jeans will even be available in corduroy! Lucky Plus will include 75 different tops—in both blousy styles as well as knitwear (leopard cardigans!).
“We want to be fashion-right,” Lucky’s Creative Director Patrick Wade told WWD.
(WWD reports you can a also look forward to glitter and sparkle for the holidays.) The clothes will live on Lucky’s e-commerce site come the holiday season and be sold via Nordstrom, Macy’s, and Belk, among others, beginning July. Lucky stores however, will not carry the line. Expect to pay from $99 to $129 for the Ginger jeans and between $49.50 and $119 for Lucky Plus.
Great news! I always look forward to more options. The Express sister brand, The Limited, has a plus line — Eloquii. Seems pretty similar to Lane Bryant to me.
You and I have the same taste in jeans! Great Job Sis! 🙂
