Designer Spotlight: “Tru Diva Designs”
Last month I attended the ‘Tropical Divas Fashion Show’ and ‘Curves Rock Fashion Weekend’ and one of the presenting designers at both of those shows was Veronica Lipscomb of Tru Diva Designs. I was first introduced to her line during ‘Full Figured Fashion Week 2010’ and her design vision has evolved even more since me first viewing her clothing and is totally me all the way. I liked the fact that she took a risk with her collection and I’m known for wearing risqué clothing from time to time. I was captivated by the sequins leggings, faux-fur accented shirts and pvc leather skirts all made exclusively for the plus-size woman. Tru diva sets itself apart by introducing new and eclectic styles to a somewhat watered down plus fashion market. Recognized for its innovative and unique use of colors and styles, Tru Diva has earned tremendous appreciation from women sizes 10 and up. Veronica started as a plus-size model and won other curvy ladies over with her unique style of dressing at fashion show rehearsals. Many women would approach her about where she purchased her clothing. Once it was discovered that she was the designer, they would request the same outfit for themselves. Through TRU DIVA, Veronica offers an alternative style to a limited market of fashion conscious clothing for plus size women.
