OOTD: “Backstage at the Love Lies Play”
Nights like tonight I love being a blogger. Thanks to my networking skills I was able to snag an interview with BET’s first ever “Sunday Best” winner, Crystal Aikin. She is currently starring in the stage play called “Love Lies” with singers Angie Stone, Brian McNight and actress Elise Neal. I will post the actual interview at a later date once I complete of all of my editing. I just wanted to share with my readers a few of the pics from my night. First of all can I just say how down to earth Ms. Crystal Aikin is. I mean here it was 7pm and the doors were about to open and she walked out to the front box office to personally greet me and walk me backstage to her dressing room. She didn’t send an assistant and she was very welcoming of myself and my guest. On our journey to the backstage area I ran into other cast members from the play including Kier Spates, Brian McNight, who offered a sweet hello to me when I waved and last but not least Ms. Angie Stone, who kindly spoke to me on my way out to be seated. Crystal and I had a great one on one session as we discussed her win on “Sunday Best” and more. Special thank you to Crystal’s team, especially Tracie and to my assistant for the night Tanya. You both rock.
Since I was doing a celeb interview and also attending the stage play, I wanted to don a business classy outfit. So I chose to wear this Fit Peplum Dress by Simply Be, ($95), leopard Torrid pumps and jewelry from Earrings Plaza in NYC. Peplum is here to stay for a while and I couldn’t be happier. Peplum outfits accent curves and work for most figures. Then by adding a belt, that creates more of a waistline too. I find that animal prints pretty much go with anything, so I would suggest trying that trend with a pop of color such as I did.
