I just love it that my home town is becoming more and more associated with fashion. As I posted on over the weekend, next week starts RVA Fashion Week and this coming Saturday another fashion related event launches.  The Fashion Media Arts Council of America, Inc. (FMA) will host a ‘Tea & Trends’ presentation. The event is set to launch on April 27, 2013 at 11AM at the Hilton Richmond Hotel & Spa at Short Pump. Tea & Trends is a presentation of the Spring/Summer & Pre-Fall 2013 Fashion Trends from the runways of New York, London, Milan and Paris. The event includes a multimedia presentation by FMA’s founder, Janel St. John, plus a fashion, beauty and accessory showcase by a number of special guests. Janel St. John, a 1996 graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Mass Communications has returned to Richmond after 11 years in the Midwest. Janel founded and published The Conscious Voice Magazine, a quarterly publication covering art, culture, life and style. Now, Janel has returned to Richmond with a new mission. She founded The Fashion Media Arts Council of America, Inc. (FMA), a non-profit 501c3, professional networking organization, to support to fashion, media and arts education, and help raise awareness of domestic violence. “Through Conscience Media, I was able to live out my love of media,” she said. “Through Fashion Group, I was able to live out my love of fashion. FMA allows me to bring those two passions together, under one roof, in a way that gives back to my community and help fight an issue which has greatly impacted my life.” Former NBC 12 news reporter, Cherelle Rodriguez, will also grace the runway as a special guest model.

Tickets are $25 and available online at www.fashionmediarts.org
