Plus-Size Models on Project Runway Season 16

This week when I watched the new season of “Project Runway” I was so inspired that I just had to write a post on it. To be honest, the only reason that I tuned in was for my girl Liris Crosse who had been promoting it on her IG page. I had checked out of Project Runway a long time ago mostly due to the lack of size diversity on the show. But I should have known that they would soon get with the program once I saw host Tim Gunn pushing hard for plus-size models and when season 14 winning designer Ashley Nell Tipton, who is not only plus-size herself, but included curvy models in her winning presentation. This season’s models range in size from 0-22. Even the show judges Heidi Klum, Nina Garcia and designer Zac Posen seem impressed with the inclusion of various body types on the show. I have always believed that some clothing actually looks better on a fuller body shape but having the versatility of models to show that is wonderful.

To my surprise when I watched, not only did I see Ms. Liris slaying the tv screen but a couple other plus-size models as well such as Jazzmine and Monique Robinson. Not to mention that Monique’s designer that she modeled for won the first week’s challenge. Yeahhhh, that’s a win for all of us big girls. Her designer, Deyonte’ Weather, created a beautiful floral red carpet look for Monique that fit her curvy figure like a glove. I don’t know about you but I’m hooked just off of the first episode. What a perfect way to celebrate their “Sweet 16” season. Be sure to turn in to Project Runway on Thursday nights at 8pm on Lifetime!
