OOTD: “The Lady In Red & Feathers”

When it came time to decide what to wear to my model call yesterday I already knew in my head what it would consist of. For months I’ve had this feather cape from Asos just hanging on my closet door for outfit inspiration. This is one of those items that you have to style just right or it will be a flop. I went to Ashley Stewart the morning of the event and originally planned on wearing a black dress from them that I had picked out . But once I tried it on with the cape it didn’t go the way I preferred :(. But that’s ok, I worked it out. I had purchased another Norma Kamali convertible dress for the holidays but never got the chance to wear it during the actual Christmas season. So I figured I’d be the lady in red today and shy away from the usual dark colors that a lot of us “curvy” women tend to stick to. (Hey, since I was the host of the event I should stand out right?). I’ve worn one of these dresses before in an animal print color, OOTD: Norma Kamali Animal-Print 6-Way Dress, but it was so cold today that I didn’t bother to wear the red one as a one-shoulder so I had both sleeves down. You’ve gotta love the versatility of a convertible dress.

My shoes were gifted to me from Torrid and to add a little spark to the red, I wore animal print with this dress. (The shoes sorta favor a pair by Prada, How To Get That Look: “Monica’s Prada Leopard Print Platform Pumps”). That’s one good thing about animal print, you can mix them with a solid color and pull it off. I copped the animal print bag during one of Bakers shoes recent sales. When I first saw it on the site I fell in love with it. I didn’t want to overdo it with jewelry since the feather cape was the statement piece, so I just paired it with an Ashley Stewart bold ring and two goldish bracelets that I used from my CBS interview the other day.
