“Coverage from Full Figured Fashion Week 2012 in NYC”
Ok, I’m just getting up from a long days nap and am finally ready to recap on my weekend from “Full Figured Fashion Week” in New York City. As I stated in my post on “A Torrid Affair”, I got to NYC on Saturday just in time to catch a couple of the events. I arrived that morning and my room wasn’t ready so I checked-in my bags and hit the streets of NYC for a little shopping. My first stop, and it always is, was “Earrings Plaza” on Broadway. I MUST go to this jewelry store every time I go to New York. They have the best, most reasonable bangles and things ever.
Then I was off to Times Square where my son dragged me into Toys-R-Us to get him “another” graduation gift and then I checked out the plus-size section in Forever 21. They have cute clothes but as I have mentioned before, they just don’t work for me, YET, so I didn’t even bother to try anything on.
By this time my room was ready and I had to change and then dash off to the Torrid event. I was almost an hour late due to my room not being ready in time, but I wasn’t the only one. I was just in time though to see and mingle with a lot of top plus-size bloggers from all over the world.
I left there and headed back to the room again to rest a little and get ready for the finale show that Saturday night. I attended with Jessica Kane, the CEO of Skorch Magazine, and we had great seats too. Thanks Jess!!!
The finale show was a presentation of designers and famous plus-size retailers newest collections. Companies such as Pretty Pear Bride, Lane Bryant, Sonsi, Ashley Stewart and Evans all had their attire walk down the runway. Some of my favorite curvy models graced the runway including Asia Monet, Rocky and showstopper Liris Crosse just to name a few. (Liris made a breathtaking entrance in her lingerie scene from Lane Bryant. I believe she took the show!).
After the show I got the chance to see some of my fashion peers and catch-up a little:
By the end of the night, I was walking on Wall Street from the show, in my flip-flops, to hail a cab back to my hotel. After a “great” night’s sleep, I asked for a late checkout, then got up early Sunday morning to visit Central Park and the F.A.O Schwarz toy store. (Read that post here). Overall I had a wonderful and FULLY packed weekend itinerary.
It’s been real NYC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
