OOTD: “The Lego Colorblocked Look”

Back in 2007/2008 designer Balenciaga released a sandal for the Fall collection which resembled a lego toy (which I know all of us grew up playing with). Singer Beyonce even wore a pair, priced at $4,175, during one of her performances. But just like the fad of the Louis Vuitton Murakami bags back during that same time frame, the Balenciaga sandals quickly went out of style. Well I purchased a “look-alike” pair from Baker Shoes and ended up only wearing them one time. But I recently came across them in my closet and although they were only a fad, I couldn’t resist wearing them again. Especially with the color-blocking trend being popular this season, I wanted to add them to a post wearing that style. So while shopping yesterday in Dots, I found a couple of dresses that would match perfect to the sandals. Today I’m wearing  what I call an “illusion” dress in black and blue color-blocking. I call it an illusion dress because after seeing many ladies, all shapes and sizes, in this style dress, I realized that the black paneling on the sides give a “curvy” illusion to the body. (FASHION TIP: This style would be great at creating curves on a woman who may not be hippy or have an accented waist). Right now Dots is having a coupon offer where if you spend $50 or more you get $15 off your total purchase. That’s in addition to having their clearance section of buy one, get one free. Yes, FREE. I was able to get a bag full of items for only $42. This dress I’m wearing today is originally only $24 but I believe I got $6 off by using the coupon. (They break the $15 discount down per item). So if you’re in the mood for a new wardrobe now’s the time to stock up at Dots!
