OOTD: “Leather, Luxe and Lace”

Unless you’ve been living under a rock this year, then you should already know that lace and leather are two of the top trends for the season. They graced the runways at many shows for both spring and fall. I even recently posted about the trend of faux-leather skater skirts being popular for the upcoming season. So with that said I couldn’t wait to get started in wearing some of the leather trend outfits that I’ve already purchased here lately. First up was this faux-leather and lace dress by DKNYC but as I quickly realized once I left the house, it’s not quite leather weather yet. I lie to you not, I was sweating like a “runaway slave”, lol. Luckily I had a maxi-dress to change into after I took my pics. Whoooahh, it was like 75-80 degrees outside today. I now know that I probably won’t be wearing anymore leather type items until next month or so after it gets a little cooler. (I don’t see how the celebs do it in LA at awards shows in 90 degree weather).

Anyway this dress caught my attention online because of the two trends in one effect. I originally hadn’t planned on wearing a belt with it at all but once I had it on I realized that the sheath design wasn’t working for me and I needed a belt to cinch my waistline. I grabbed a couple of choices and switched them up during the pics as well as shoes. I paired the dress up with my Maison Martin Margiela inspired sandal/booties. I’ve had them since 2009 and I think this was my first time wearing them. The dress originates for $149 but I lucked up on one of the sales that Macy’s had last week and it was marked down to $83.99 with another 20% off of that. For that price I quickly took it off of my wishlist and added it to my shopping cart.
