OOTD/The Look for Less: “The Stella McCartney Saskia Dress”
As a curvy fashionista I’m always on the lookout for top-designer runway looks for us plus-size ladies and even more, finding those looks on an everyday budget. Well that’s why when I recently came across this Rockin My Curves BodyCon Floor Length Dress from Chic and Curvy Boutique I literally jumped up on my feet. It so hits the look of the Stella McCartney Saskia Belted Colorblock Gown ($5,365) on the head. Celebs like Gwyneth Paltrow have been seen wearing this gown on the red-carpet and other events since it hit the runway last year. Only thing really different is that the Stella McCartney gown is sleeveless but both dresses have the illusion look and give you curves in all the right places. Plus the Chic and Curvy Dress is only $49, that’s right, you can save thousands with this look for less. Chic and Curvy even offers this dress starting in a size Small-3X. That’s right, all my ladies can get in on this one. Plus, I found a belt on the Asos website similar to the one that comes with the Stella McCartney Gown.
Now mind you I got my dress in the mail just yesterday and had just seen the gold-plated belt on the Asos website on Monday but now it’s gone. That’s one thing about Asos, when you see items that you like you betta grab them then. So being as though I can’t order the plain gold-plated belt that I wanted to get the Stella McCartney look, I added this gold and spike detail belt ($13) instead. (Please try to ignore the spikes on the belt. I tried to hide them in the pics but you get the point I’m sure). Anyway this gown is so well made with a soft jersey cotton you would really believe that you paid more than just $49 for it. Plus it also comes in the color pattern of the season black & white and also black & khaki. I’m 5’9 and wore 6 inch heels and the dress was still floor length so this is a great pick for my tall sisters. So here’s my take on the Stella McCartney re-creation…..oh and please excuse the spots on my pictures, it started sleeting when I was shooting the pics but that didn’t stop me, lol.
UPDATE: 2/26/13- The belt that I recommend from Asos to wear with this dress is now back in stock. Here’s the link here. It’s $20.
