Salon Talk: “My New Updo from Replica of Im-ij”

So as everyone should already know but I’ma wiggy to heart. I just love being able to change my hair style at the drop of a dime. But as I’ve learned, that is so harmful to your real hair underneath. So while on Instagram recently I discovered a new salon here in Richmond called Replica of Im-ij. Replica of Im-ij is a modern beauty salon offering a variety of hairstyling beauty services. They offer a range of hair services such as haircuts, extensions, treatments, coloring, make-up, bridal & formal styling, custom made wigs, natural hair care & styling. When I first walked in I was intrigued by the pretty pink walls, intimate setting and of course when I saw pics of my girl  Audrey Hepburn on the wall I knew I was in for nothing but a classy experience. Shop owner Shakeita Collins greeted me upon arrival and I was serviced by stylist Christa Holland. The stylists and myself are working on an upcoming project together, which I will discuss in the coming weeks, and I wanted a new look. I decided instead of going for a full weave to try an updo with bangs look. I have seen this look on red carpets and worn by celebs such as Beyonce and Nicole Ritchie, but it was K. Michelle who had it on this past Monday’s episode of “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” that sold me on the hairstyle. It was cute, classy and seemed to be care-free.

I had been in talks all week with Shakeita on what type of hair to purchase for my bangs and bun and we decided on the brand Milky Way and I’m wearing the color of 1B/33. After Christa applied a relaxer to my hair she blow dried me and then braided the front of my hair to sew my bang portion in. The bun was simple to do, well after we added more hair, and she secured it with plenty of hair pins. To my surprise I was able to sleep in this hairdo and still have it look freshly done today. I may have to keep up this new hairdo for a while. It does feel good for most of my hair to be breathing and my neck not covered up, lol.
