Bella Styles Featured In The June 2013 Issue of Richmond Magazine
So the great news that I’ve been hinting at the past month is that I’m being featured in the June 2013 issue of Richmond Magazine. That’s right, your girl is in an in-print magazine that is currently on newstands and bookstores all over the Virginia area. I couldn’t be more excited right now. I posted a blog spotlight of me rocking a new hairdo and it was for this magazine article. I had Christa of Replica of Im-ij Salon to give me an updo for the spread. I figured this style would be something classy for a mag feature. (You may have already seen me post outtake pics and an OOTD post while wearing this same hair style). Anyway Richmond Magazine contacted me after they saw me featured on the RVAFB Blog. (Special thanks to Larissa Wisniewski who made this possible without even knowing it. I truly appreciate her support for me and my blog from the very beginning). My particular spotlight this month is in Richmond Magazine’s ‘Shop Talk’ section and the article is titled, “Shapely Looks”, page 52. I’m simply stating in the article how I got started as a blogger and offering plus-size fashion tips. Sorry for the blurry pic above but I just took a screen shot of the mag from my phone. I will update this post later with the actual tearsheet.
Since I knew this was gonna be an in-print article, in addition to wanting to have a classy hairdo, I also wanted an elegant ensemble to wear. This particular shot that the photographer chose is of me wearing an evening gown by JS Collections from Nordstrom, $118. I absolutely loved this pic that Richmond Magazine chose to use in the spread, except for the fact that my left hand looks deformed but I was holding my dress up to show my shoes off but I’m sure you all figured that out, lol. Speaking of which the shoes went perfect with the dress to bring out the rhinestones in the waistline. I’ve worn the shoes before here and I got them from Barefeet Shoes in Hampton, VA back in 2010. I then coordinated the rhinestones in the dress and shoes with bangles and earrings both by Ashley Stewart. So there you go, I’m giving you plus-size fashion, advice and inspiration and I’m proving that just because you have a little extra meat on your bones, media and mags will still recognize the fashionable curvy girl and the hard work that you put in if you just don’t give up on your dreams. So what’s next for me, maybe national TV or Vogue, who knows, but I’m just overjoyed that my hometown took the time to recognize me and lend me their support!
