Curvy Event Alert: “Plus Night Out 2013”

Remember that model call that I helped judge the other week at Ashley Stewart in Bowie, MD for Plus Night Out? Yeah, well the deets are in and it’s official. Plus Night Out will take place on Friday, September 13th at Hotel Pennsylvania in New York City. Plus Night Out, the only plus size runway event during NYFW, returns on 9/13. Last year’s PNO was amazing and I’m sure this year will top that.

Plus Night Out is a plus-centric event, held during Fashion Week in NYC. It is a designer incubator for the independent designers to showcase their collections to media, press, retailers, stylists and other plus industry professionals. Plus Night Out is in its third year, with its second runway event in New York. They are a platform that has established itself as a leading fashion event for Curvy women. PNO returns with Ashley Stewart and True Model Management as exclusive sponsors and Joanne Borgella of ‘Curvy Girls’ and ‘American Idol’ as the event host.

The Plus Night Out Model Search expanded with the help of their elite sponsor, Ashley Stewart. PNO held casting calls in Atlanta, Maryland, New Jersey and New York in specific Ashley Stewart locations. The winner will receive flight and hotel compensation to participate in the NY runway event. She will also represent PNO in media interviews, receive a $500 gift certificate from Ashley Stewart, a gift basket from participating sponsors (valued at $500), (4) photoshoots from top plus industry photographers and a one hour consultation with Model Makers Mentors (Catherine Schuller). True Model Management, a top modeling company, will join Plus Night Out as a model search sponsor. Plus Night Out’s Model Search winner will receive a modeling contract with True Model Management, a campaign with Ashley Stewart and covers/editorial placement in leading plus publications.

Daily Venus Diva Magazine, Full Blossom Magazine, Manik Magazine, Skorch Magazine, ModelCall Magazine and PNO Magazine are all participating model search media sponsors.

PNO chose to work with Ashley Stewart because of their commitment to on trend selections at great prices. Ashley Stewart will showcase two collections on the Plus Night Out runway this year, one of which is a signature collection by a prominent Plus celebrity. Specific information will be announced later on this summer.

The designers this year are an eclectic mix of style, design and ideas that will include Just Raymona of ‘NBC’s 24hr Catwalk’, The Cotrice Collection (from the Lifetime show, Project Accessories), Chocolate Sushi Couture, Serita Bell, Intimate Plus, IGIGI and Joanne Borgella’s JBNY Collection. The Cotrice Collection, from Los Angeles, was a featured designer in Lifetime’s “Project Accessories”. Her avant garde designs flatter the female body in ingenious ways. Chocolate Sushi Couture from the Chicago area, brings elegance and ladylike sensibilities to the runway in resplendent fabrics. Intimate Plus from New Jersey, will showcase a collection of high quality intimate wear seldom seen in plus garments. These are just a few of the collections that will walk the Plus Night Out runway this September during Fashion Week.
