OOTD: “Purple Pigeon”

Although Macy’s is one of the more expensive department stores, when they have those one-day sales, they are the best. I lucked up on this maxi dress a few weeks ago during the one-day sale after having it on my wishlist sometime. It’s by the brand, Soprano, and it’s in the color-blocked hues of purple and grey. The actual style name of this dress is called the ‘pigeon’ therefore that’s how I got the title of this post. If you haven’t noticed by now I’m a sucker for a great maxi and am a even bigger fan of wearing wide belts with them. It’s something about when you add a belt, it instantly can add definition and shape to an otherwise frumpy and plain dress. (But not that this particular dress was frumpy anyway). Plus since I was colorblocking, the belt brought out the lighter shade of purple in the bottom of the dress. The ‘pigeon’ maxi is made of polyester/spandex and flows nicely while on. The material is super soft and there’s a faux-wrap opening in the center of the dress so when the wind blows it cascades with the wind. The only thing is that at the bra area in the front I had to place a safety pin there to keep my bra from showing. (If you don’t wear a belt with this dress you can just use a flower pin at the bra opening as an accent piece. You wouldn’t want to over do it by wearing both a belt and flower pin). Overall I highly recommend this maxi and right now, it’s an additional percentage off of the original $78 price.
