OOTD: “Check Mate”

I know that I’m always going on and on about getting the look for less but I just had to share with you a trendy affordable find that I recently came across. I am totally head over heels for the Spring 2013 Louis Vuitton check print trend. I have already started filling my wardrobe with different pieces featuring that pattern. First up is this Turtleneck Checkered Print Mini from Posh Shoppe, $29.99. I have already seen this dress pop up on different boutiques websites (both plus-size and straight size) and although I normally don’t go for dresses of this length, I figured I would still try it just the same. (I need to switch up my personal style from time to time too). Now just as it says on the website, the dress does run small so I would suggest going a size up. Being that it is a mini dress and I’m conscious that I have large thighs, I wore basic black tights (Ashley Stewart, $10) and black pumps (Charlotte Russe) to give a long lean leg look. (I learned that from Wendy Williams). But I just had to throw in a pop of color to round everything out so I added these red square earrings that I just picked up from It’s Fashion on clearance for only $2.99. The red purse is a Nicole Lee find that I got from Bakers Shoes some time ago. Hey although most top designers don’t cater to us plus gals just yet doesn’t mean that we can’t keep up with the trends.
