Bella on the Scene: “Clients and Conversations”
Tonight I had the pleasure of attending a client and hair stylist Q & A session with my salon Replica of Im-ij. Being that I have recently cut my hair I learned quite a bit of helpful tips for ‘real’ hair tonight. As you see in the pics, I went back to my short wig for tonight’s event but I learned during the session info that I could of used during this week to keep my short hair style up. (I’m totally lost on how to flat iron, pin curl or anything, lol). But I have another appointment soon so this is only temporary.
Many topics were covered from, “Can a pregnant woman get a relaxer?” and the answer was YES. To the question of “Why do stylist charge so much?’, which was explained by stating that the costs of living goes up for everyone over the years and your locality has a lot to do with cost. Say for instance a hair service may cost $95 in DC but that same service may be only $55 here in Richmond. One quote that stood out to me during the Q & A was that you “shampoo” hair and not “wash” it. Also you get your hair done at a “salon” and not a “shop”. The way that salon owner Shakeita broke it down was that you take your car to get “washed at a shop”, not your hair. Good point!
For the event I went glam-casual. I’m wearing a City Chic Peplum Top with a gold skinny belt, a pair of dark wash stiletto jeans and black thigh boots, both from Torrid. I bought these boots about 5 years ago but there is a similar pair on the Torrid site here. (Note: These are NOT the same boots that I wore in my “RISQUÉ ME” post). But my entire outfit was based around the handbag. If you haven’t noticed by now, I have a grand collection of Nicole Lee handbags. This is a new one to the site called the DAVIDA NEW YORK PRINT SHOULDER BAG ($86.99). The PR department for Nicole Lee contacted me for a review and the Davida bag was my top choice.
The bag is a large 18x15x5 size with a detachable strap and double gold chains along the sides. I really admired this bag for my love of New York. There are graphics of NYC cabs and landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty all over the bag. It is really an attention grabber too. From the moment I left home I received compliments on it.
