It was just announced on Huffington Post that the Pantone 2014 color of the year is “Radiant Orchid”. This year as we all know was the color “Emerald”. (I reported on the Emerald trend HERE). Officially known as Radiant Orchid, the tropical shade is a color-wheel contrast to green, said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, but it’s not the red that would have been a more obvious choice. “It’s a little different, it’s a little off the beaten path, and it’s not a primary color,” she explains. “It’s an invitation to innovation. The purple family offers (an) opportunity to do creative things.” Leatrice described the hue as “an enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones” that “inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health.” Pantone predicts the color will be popular in fashion, beauty, and interior design in 2014, calling the hue a “modern and surprisingly versatile shade” that can be worn by both men and women. Looks as if I need to shop my closet for this color, because I’m sure that I already have it, so that I can stay in trend. Here are other Orchid colored fashion options as well:
